Alexander Douglas of Eagleshay

Sir Alexander Douglas of Eagleshay (Egilsay), Lord of Egilshay (died January 1718), was a Scottish politician. He served as Commissioner for Orkney and Zetland stewartry to the Parliament of Scotland; one of the co-opted Scottish MPs to the first Parliament of Great Britain; and MP for Orkney and Shetland, from 1708 to 1713. He was the first MP for the constituency at the Westminster parliament. He was the son of William Douglas of Egilsay and Marjorie Monteith.
He was appointed the Chamberlain of the Bishopric of Orkney in 1710, which brought a salary or pension of £1000 Scots and knighted in 1707.
He was succeeded by George Douglas, later 13th earl of Morton.〔The Douglas Archives〕
